Planning for heating costs
Automatic delivery helps take ordering heating oil off your list, but delivery planning and payment planning are different things. Without a budget plan, automatic delivery can still mean large heating bills during the winter.
A budget plan spreads your estimated annual heating oil cost across equal monthly payments. The aim is easier household budgeting, rather than a promise that you will use less oil or pay a lower price.
How equal monthly payments work
Mercer Fuels' Budget Plan spreads your estimated annual heating oil cost over 10 equal monthly payments, from September to June.
The important word is estimated. The payment schedule is based on an estimate of your annual heating oil cost, not a guarantee of the final total. At year-end, there is a balance or credit settlement.
Delivery and budgeting work together
Automatic Delivery and a Budget Plan address two different concerns: arranging deliveries and planning payments. Combining them can make it easier to manage your heating oil without treating every delivery as a separate budgeting decision.
Equal payments should not be confused with a fixed oil price or guaranteed savings. They spread the estimated cost, while the year-end settlement accounts for the balance or credit.
What to ask before you sign up
Ask the Mercer Fuels team how your estimated annual cost will be worked out, what your monthly payment would be, and how the year-end balance or credit would be handled for your account.
You can also ask how the payment schedule applies if you are joining partway through the plan year. Getting those details before signing up helps you understand what to include in your household budget.
