Understanding Heating Oil Text Reminders
Mercer Fuels' Check Tank Reminders help you remember to check your oil level and order before you run out of heat or hot water.

A little reminder can help you avoid an empty tank
Checking your oil tank is easy to forget when life gets busy. Mercer Fuels' Check Tank Reminders are a simple nudge to check your gauge and see whether you need to order oil.
That is the point: remember to check, order when you need to, and avoid running out. An empty tank can leave your family without heat. If your oil system also heats your water, it can mean a cold shower too.
Check your gauge, then decide whether to order
When a reminder arrives, take a look at your tank gauge if you can access it safely. If the level is lower than you are comfortable with, order heating oil as soon as possible rather than putting it off.
If your gauge reads below 1/8, you should consider ordering right away so you do not run out. You do not need to wait until it gets that low to order.
A gauge is only a guide, not a promise of how long your oil will last. If you are unsure about the reading or worried you are running low, contact Mercer Fuels for help.
A useful nudge before bad weather
Mercer Fuels also sends weather-warning Check Tank Reminders. They are a prompt to check your oil level while you are thinking about getting ready for the weather.
If you need oil, get your order in rather than leaving it until the tank is empty. And if you already know your oil is low, do not wait for a text before ordering.
A reminder helps you remember; automatic delivery handles planning
Check Tank Reminders prompt you to look at the gauge. If you place your own orders, you still need to order when you need oil.
Automatic delivery is different: Mercer Fuels plans your deliveries using your usage history and local weather patterns. If you would rather not remember to place each order yourself, ask our team about that option.
Tank lower than you would like?
